| dc.description | Breast cancer triggers negative emotions in both the woman and her husband. During the course of treatment,
spouses are confronted with many situations that increase the level of perceived anxiety. One of them is
a decision about breast reconstruction. The breast reconstructive surgery is an opportunity to achieve mental
and physical benefits, on the other hand it causes emotional objections. The article presents the social meanings
of breast reconstruction shared by various social and professional groups, considering changes in the perception
of the surgery over time. Social constructions of breast reconstructive surgery have been identified as one of
the factors determining the decision about breast reconstruction. | en_US |
| dc.description.abstract | Rak piersi wywołuje negatywne emocje zarówno u chorej, jak i u jej małżonka. W trakcie trwania leczenia
małżonkowie konfrontują się z licznymi sytuacjami, które podwyższają poziom odczuwanego lęku. Jedną
z nich jest podejmowanie decyzji o poddaniu się rekonstrukcji piersi przez chorą. Zabieg odtwórczy jest szansą
na osiągnięcie psychicznych i fizycznych korzyści, z drugiej zaś strony wywołuje emocjonalne obiekcje. W artykule
przedstawiono znaczenia nadawane rekonstrukcji piersi przez różne grupy społeczne i zawodowe,
z uwzględnieniem zmian zachodzących w postrzeganiu zabiegu na przestrzeni czasu. Społeczne konstrukcje
zabiegu odtwórczego określono jako jeden z czynników determinujących decyzję o rekonstrukcji piersi. | en_US |
