The family in the contemporary social thought is analysed in the by many sciences: psychology, sociology, pedagogy and anthropology. The participation of the family in the processes of social formation and its role in the public space of culture, religion and education is still a relevant issue. The family becomes a place of formation and experience of values, culture, relationships and personal patterns. This study adopts the notion of the family as an educational environment whose key function is to ‘give birth’ to human beings in a multiple sense: biological, spiritual, cultural, axiological and social.
