A total of 40 nurses from a hospital was interviewed on reasons and levels of psychological stress at work. The results indicate that the amount of stress experienced at work was not similar in five tested departments (surgery, orthopedics, pediatric, internal diseases and intensive care). The analysis of the outcome shows that the very small salary and the disappointment it brings is a reason of stresses very specific for the Polish hospital. Majority of nurses (87,5 %) is overworked. The growing tiredness and a high psychological distress may result in the rise of burnout.en_US
