Abstract

One of the most important elements that guarantees the maintenance ofsocial security in every state is providing the feeling ofsocial peace for the citizens. In Poland after 1989, when the process oftransformations ofthe political and economic systems started, provision ofthat security was very difficult, due to a thorough restructuring ofthe four spheres of life: political, economic, social and cultural. In this article the author attempts to assess how in that period, from the perspective ofmicro-scale of an individual enterprise, the employed persons were guaranteed the feeling ofsocial security. An answer to that question is to be given via the analysis ofthe Act on privatization ofstate enterprises of 13th July 1990, and by the review of contracts typical for that period, called ‘social packages’. Besides, the proceedings ofthe representatives of the State Treasury at signing the contracts with strategic investor shall also be commented on. Achieving the social security by the employees in the micro-scale was the guarantee ofthe whole-state internal social security given by the state understood as the institution.
