Abstract

Dominant values and inner conflicts of parents of autistic children Autism is manifested by a wide range of neuro-developmental symptoms including impaired social interactions and communication, restricted and repetitive untypical behaviour. Autism is not only a problem of children suffering from it and their parents but is a general social issue. Improvement in the functioning of autistic persons is possible although it depends on the intensity of disturbance and degree of engagement of the closest persons. The study reported was undertaken to identify the specific changes in the system of values and inner conflicts of parents in response to getting the information that their child had been diagnosed with autism and make a comparison with those of parents of healthy children.
