dc.description.abstract | The analysis of the material coming from the tales and short stories collected and written down by Antoni Benedykt Łukaszewicz in his two volumes titled: Kujawskie legendy, gawędy i gadki [eng. Kuyavian legends, drawn-out stories and patters], whose aim was the characterisation of the forms of entertainment in the Kuyavian countryside of 19th and 20th century, shows that: 1) the plays were diversified. They depended on the social status, age and seasons; 2) hard-working peasants did not have so much time for careless plays, but even they were able to find time to have fun in taverns, to gather together at homes and to tell different stories or play tricks on each other; 3) the forms of entertainment, as all cultural phenomena, were prone to change with time. Formerly popular dance parties were replaced by discos, without such folk dances as: kujawiak, polka and oberek. Instead of getting together, people prefer spending time watching TV, while children and teenagers living in the countryside, close to nature, had many possibilities to throw different parties, choose the computer; 4) it is the influence of political and social changes, customs, the development of technology, as well as the influence of the global culture. | en_US |
