Rozrywka w "szańcu polskości". O obrazie zabawy na łamach "Dziennika Bydgoskiego" z lat 1908-1914

Abstract

The topic of the article is to show the specifics of presenting entertainment and fun in “Dziennik Bydgoski”. It wasthe only Polish newspaper in Germanized Bydgoszcz up until 1920. The purpose of the “Dziennik Bydgoski” was to maintain the national identity of Polish residents of city, therefore it was called the “rampart of Polishness”. The articles had a higly ideological and patriotic character. All aspects of life were shown in a patriotic spirit. Articles about games and entertainment also had a propaganda character. The basic criterion for assessing each entertainment was its Polishness – entertainment organized by Poles is good, the same type of entertainment organized by the Germans is bad.
