The article is a reflection on the creation of female identity towards semantics of interiors in the prose texts of the 2nd half of the 19th century It is inspired by the “literary world of things”, which is the subject of Ewa Ihnatowicz’s research, and it focuses on other realities in the novels of mature realism and turns towards microanalysis, inscribing itself in the broadly understood current of the methods of Bohdan Mazan and Aleksander Nawarecki. While analyzing the descriptions of interiors in the novels in reference to the creation of a female figure in the realistic novel of the positivist era, it defines literary manners of creating boudoir spaces - in which positivistic heroines are presented - as identity elements. Boudoir is evident in the prose of this period as an identity element, because it characterizes the heroine to a significant degree (through individualizing or typifying) and refers to the universal problem of the identity of the figure of a woman-doll.
