dc.description.abstract The main purpose of this paper is an attempt to assess tourist and cultural potential of the poviat of Mogilno that is a classic example of an administrative unit of the Greater Poland - Kuyavia border. A very efficient mechanism for such evaluation was developed by Annin Mios von Rohrscheidt. So-called cultural - tourist valorizations of individual micro-regions (in fact identified with the poviats) have been published in the “Turystyka kulturowa” scientific journal during the past few years. Such a study has also the poviat of Mogilno, although not of entirely satisfactory quality. According to its author this micro-region has an average tourist and cultural potential. This finding may be considered acceptable. The following conclusions can be drawn from the present analysis. Although there are very good publications (e.g. Damian Rybak, Strzelno. Bazylika pw. św. Trójcy, rotunda św. Prokopa, Bydgoszcz no date of publication), the availability and quality of print materials is not sufficient and needs to be improved. Professional constant markings system actually does not exist in the poviat. Therefore it is proposed to develop a correlated system of tourist markings consisting of properly prepared prints available in right places (in situ but also in other towns, cultural centers, railway stations, petrol stations, tourist information, etc) and also elements of constant markings system. It has been suggested that it consisted of 4 elements: A - so called brown signs placed at a distance of a few to a few tens of kilometers indicating the tourist that is approaching places/things worth seeing, В - information boards set in key places, made in accordance with the model from Brugia. They contain summary information arranged in a particular way, e.g. a bilingual comment, panoramic pictures of important architectural and urban complexes, iconographie material with a look into the past of these places, scenes impossible to see, etc. С - indicators that will lead tourists to the destination, D - information boards for each object. Development of such a model will only help to ensure optimal effectiveness in information with an impact on both tourists and local people. In the second case it is not only about its role in education but also in strengthening local patriotism. en_US
