The aim of the article is to present some selected reflections upon the future of work. Its first part presents the main drivers of change, which are even quicker and even more difficult to predict. Their directions seem to be similar all over the world, though their scale and speed depend on the characteristic features of given societies. In the following part of the paper, some hypothetical scenarios have been painted of what work could become in the future. The indicated visions pose a challenge both for employees and the representatives for governments and policy-makers who shape the market policy. Work transformations clearly imply the need for participating in lifelong learning and education, as is necessary to support the acquiring and development of the competences individuals require in the changing world of work.en_US
