"Upośledzony" seks, czyli o seksualności osób z niepełnosprawnością w Polsce

Abstract

The sexuality of persons with intellectual disability is still a taboo subject in Poland. Parents and teachers aren‘t talking with disabled persons about sex, because they have in fear of an unnecessary interest in the subject of sexuality. Such an attitude won‘t solve a problem but only will deepen it. In consequence it will cause even deeper disturbances in this area. Sexual behaviors are natural behaviours of the man and everyone has the right to a sexual activity. To be a human being means to be a sexual being. We must enable disabled persons to stand up to the own sexuality. Surviving the own sexuality is helping better to understand himself, to accept the own body and his needs, as well as to raise self-esteem. He will let also satisfy the need for love and of the respect, as well as the self-realization.
