Streszczenie
The paper is devoted to the policy ofCasimir the Great on monasteries. It presents the ruler’s activities concerning the foundation of various religious institutions and his cooperation with their members. The first part examines both certain and hypothetical foundations ofthe ruler’s actions; the nature and scale of his donation project to monasteries are also explored. Then the article focuses on Casimir’s approach to the land property owned by individual communities, resolving property disputes, and tax and economic issues. Finally, his personal policies concerning the selection of abbots - especially in the Benedictine and Cistercian convents - and appropriate court chaplains are discussed.
