dc.description.abstract | Joseph M. Bochenski in his philosophical works levels criticism against the philosophy
of dialogue. It is a criticism from the position of analytic philosophy, which places
a great emphasis on the scientific nature of a discussion. The following terms serve
as indicators of the scientific character, i.e., (1) analysis, (2) language, (3) logy, (4)
object. This means a rejection of the efforts to build an all-encompassing philosophical
system in favor of addressing partial problems, linguistic precision and accuracy, using
only rational methods and philosophical objectivity. Meanwhile, representatives of the
philosophy of dialogue, to whom Tadeusz Gadacz and Joseph Tischner belong, maintain
that for philosophy it is more important to seek the answers to questions that a person
considers important rather than meet the rigors of science. Among these questions are
the ones about the meaning of life, the causes of evil in the world, a way to implement values. Dialogists’ main object of interest is man and interpersonal relations. They consider the metaphorical language, which refers to myths and symbols, to be more suitable to express this reality than the literal one. Bocheński calls the language used by the philosophers of dialogue “babble” and their way of practicing philosophy a “fabrication of a world view.” | en_US |
