Streszczenie
The topic of the article concerns recognising the place of music, as a means of expression, in the artistic and
journalistic works and correspondence of Sienkiewicz. The writer’s reflections on musicalness are followed
(analysed) in contemporary novels, historical novels, short stories, feuilletons and litters of the writer. The
analysis shows differences in the use of musical elements. Whereas in Sienkiewicz’s journalistic texts music
is treated like an object, the fiction written by the author of ‘Whirlpool’ presents it as a polysemantic element
which co-creates the plot, characterises the soul of characters, becomes a multivirtuous symbol and a carrier
of metaphysical content.
