Abstract

From 1869 to 1872 thorough construction works were performed at today’s Kielce cathedral. In 1870 a Warsaw artist F. Cengler signed a contract with Church Restoration Committee to make sculptures for the temple. He made four statutes portraying Evangelists which were placed on a belfry, and plaster low reliefs presenting Immaculate Conception, Jesus blessing the world, and two heads of angels, mounted on the west facade.
