Abstract

A positive role of the family in child development and upbringing is mainly connected with values implemented in a given family as well as with mutual emotional bonds, roles fulfilled by members of the family and patterns of communication established in it. The most important persons for children are their parents. Consequently, the parents play a crucial role role in the process of upbringing has a significant meaning for a child’s entire life. The author describes a general picture of the family seen from the perspective of school age children. Opinions expressed by children are analysed in the context of various factors connected both with the features of children and character­ istics of their family.
