Abstract

The article presents an attempt to redefine the nationality of Poles and their descendants living abroad. In view of the great diversity of the Polish diaspora due to historical, chronological, political, sociological, psychological and linguistic factors, we can speak of ethnic, not national, identity. The ethnic identity of Poles living abroad is more subjective, volitional and heterogeneous then the national identity of Poles living in Poland. This fact has not been fully taken into account by the authors of the curriculum for Polish students abroad.
