Streszczenie
In the Warsaw Chronicles of Bolesław Prus we find the information about the entertainment that residents of the capital of the Kingdom of Poland indulged. The chronicler of Warsaw placed in his notes reports from masked balls, exhibitions, circus performances, garden theatres, fairs, etc. Among all the ways of brightening the free time described by Prus, the most interesting, but relatively new, appeared to be two. Although they were born far behind the Ocean and in England, they successfully adopted themselves in Warsaw. The article is dedicated to the lexis associated to the spiritualism and horse racing.
