Aim: Low physical activity of young generation presents a serious problem which refers also to students who beside obligatory PE classes reluctantly undertake additional physical activities. It was decided to examine the problem after ten- year period. Material and methods: Aerobic capacity in PE female students was measured in academic year 2002/3 and the test was repeated after ten years in academic year 2012/13 with the use of PWC170 test performed on the rowing ergometer. Results: Values obtained during 2002/3 examinations revealed that aerobic capacity could be improved while the examinations from 2012/13 proved the decline of that capacity. A minimal positive effect of undertaking physical activity during obligatory PE classes was observed. Conclusions: Physical activity undertaken solely on the obligatory basis and during non-obligatory recreation activities improves aerobic capacity to a slight extent but does not assure that the intra-generation regression will stop. Generally observed decline in the young generation physical capacity measured after ten- year period refers also to PE female students.
