Streszczenie
The aim of the article is to present the negative consequences of victimization, particularly a sense of damage. People who lost their eyesight took part in the first study. The study was aimed at examining the impact of “forgiveness” on the subject’s quality of life. “Forgiveness” was understood as freeing oneself from the syndrome of victimization and minimising of one’s concentration on the experienced loss. It was expected and confirmed that the strategy of mood regulation could be a mediator in this relationship. It turned out that blind people used the strategy of improving their mood more often than healthy people. Women who have had mastectomy participated in the second study. The variables taken into consideration were subjects’ emotionality and their present mood. The women who belong to support groups differ from the women who do not belong to such organizations. The women belonging to support groups experience more positive mood than negative mood as well attribute the causes of the experienced emotions to various factors. Finally, the article presents the positive consequences that follow the experienced trauma.
