Streszczenie
Transport of goods by air in Poland, whether in the times ofthe People’s Poland or after the political transformations in 1989 have always experienced similar difficulties. The main trouble is the fact that by this mean oftransportfew tons ofgoods can be transported. Undoubtedly, such situation resultsfrom insufficient development ofthe airports’ infrastructure. The passenger airports have been expanded and developed in the pastyears, mainly with afocus on passenger transportation services which increased impressively after 2004. Thefreight ofgoods by air has remained somehow in the shadow ofthe passenger transport that gave a quickfinancial return to the air carriers. That is why the cargo infrastructure has been neglected. Meanwhile, the airports are the significant endogenousfactors oflocal development. Indeed, around the airports should all types oftransportation be gathered in order to facilitate handling and loading ofthe goods and theirsmooth customs clearance. A popular opinion that Polish entrepreneurs are too poor to benefit from the services of air transport of goods is failing, as the facts prove that domestic entrepreneurs are eager to use transport hubs ofthe European airports. The goods from Poland are just transported to great European airports by means of road transportation.
