Streszczenie
The Unification of Germany in 1990 evoked a lot of uncertainties on the European political scene, tied up to the future of this country in the European security architecture. The fear was demonstrated especially by the neighbours and allied - France, Great Britain - worried due to possibility of the relaxation of the existing relations with West Europe, there was a priority ofthe GDR foreign policy. The time has showed, that the above fears did not reassert. Germany actively threw itself in many enterprises within European integration's deepening, at the end ofthe 20th century bas gafie in a new phase, demanding a fresh and dynamic glance at the key problems of the Europe. The above article centres on the most important German projects of the continent's integration, that appeared at the turn of the 21th century. Their creators were leaders of German’s politicians: foreign minister Joschka Fischer, the chancellor Gerhard Schröder and the president Johannes Rau. The common point of their conceptions was the federal character of the European integration in the future, with the strong over - national element in the EU. However, author of the article concludes, that in the facet of the over - Atlantic quarrels and the political partition in Europe, the German's foreign policy shifts its emphasis from the pressure on the integration's deepening to more active defining its place in the international area.
