Z zoonimii rosyjskiej: o imionach ślimaków

Abstract

The subject ofthis paper are Russian snail’s names. The analysis has shown that the names are derived among others from anthroponyms (e.g Russian, Spanish, Italian), from the word ,snail’ in diverse languages (like French, Spanish, German), also motivated by snail’s features. There are many names inspired by pop culture: movies, songs, cartoons, popular literature or containing syllable uli-/ul’ -(from Russian улитка 'snail').
