Abstract

Mosquitoes (Culicidae) is a family of insects from the order Díptera. The mosquito, like an another insect - a fly, is the motivational basis for many proper names, including place names, surnames and historical nicknames. This article is devoted to the presence ofthe lexem mosquito in the Polish, East Slavonic and German anthroponymy.
