Abstract

Nature in the city and its suburban countryside areas in Dorota Terakowska’s works influences the heroes actions, it changes their system of values and even their world-view (a rational scientist needs to express emotions being influenced by nature, an artist is convinced of the prevalence of expressionism over the sculptor’s professionalism resulting from the contact with nature, the disabled child’s mother’s actions are valued through the garden surrounding her big urban house). The rationalism ofscience, technology and broadly perceived civilisation in the XX century cannot exist without the contact with nature and its influence on human emotions.
