<title>Using Quantitative and Qualitative Methods within One Study</title>
<link>https://repozytorium.ukw.edu.pl///handle/item/908</link>
<description>Using Quantitative and Qualitative Methods within One Study
Ponto, Maria
This paper discusses mixed methodology which can be utilized in different stages of the research (Ponto, 2004). The paper also provides a discussion on Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). The strengths and weaknesses of using nomothetic and idiographic approaches are critically debated and issues concerning reliability and validity of mixed measures are also discussed. An argument is put forward that quantitative and qualitative methods can be successfully employed&#13;
within the same study and that this should be considered as strength rather than a weakness.

<title>A Study of Heterosexual and Homosexual Pedophiles Using Parallel Forms Cattell’s 16PF</title>
<link>https://repozytorium.ukw.edu.pl///handle/item/907</link>
<description>A Study of Heterosexual and Homosexual Pedophiles Using Parallel Forms Cattell’s 16PF
Pietrulewicz, Bogdan
The present research uses the Sixteen Personality Factor Questionnaire of Cattell and Eber (1974) to find the different traits that could eventually establish a characteristic profile of pedophilia: homosexual and heterosexual. The statistical&#13;
analyses are the results of three subject groups (N = 120): 30 heterosexual pedophiles; 30 homosexual pedophiles selectioned with the help of penile plethysmography, registered to a sexology clinic for deviant behavioral problems and 30 voluntary people recruited from the general public form the control group. The t-tests do not show any significant difference between the two groups of pedophiles; although a number of differences is noticed between the control group and the two clinical groups. The two deviant groups have the image of the personality which follows the same profile&#13;
with a few particular differences associated to the sexual orientation.

<title>Personality Profiles for Sexual Abusers Based on the MMPI-2</title>
<link>https://repozytorium.ukw.edu.pl///handle/item/906</link>
<description>Personality Profiles for Sexual Abusers Based on the MMPI-2
Pietrulewicz, Bogdan
The MMPI profiles of 30 heterosexual pedophiles men (from ages 21 to 56) and 30 homosexuals and 30 normal have been compared so as to identify the relations between the deviant behavior and sexual orientation. We have observed a significant&#13;
difference between the clinical groups on the paranoia scale and many differences between these two groups and the controls group. This brings us to believe that the profile 4-6/6-4 is associated with the homosexual pedophilia and the code 4-8/8-4 with the heterosexual pedophilia. The existence of the psychological differences gives the characterized image by the pathology.

<title>Romantic Involvement and Psychosocial Adjustment During Adolescence</title>
<link>https://repozytorium.ukw.edu.pl///handle/item/905</link>
<description>Romantic Involvement and Psychosocial Adjustment During Adolescence
Sauvageau, Geneviève; Cloutier, Richard
This study examines associations between different aspects of romantic involvement and psychosocial adjustment during adolescence. Nine hundred and one youths (432 boys, 469 girls) between 12 and 17 years of age, all indicating having been involved in at least one romantic relationship, answered questionnaires measuring ten parameters of romantic involvement (interest, age at the time of the first romance, average age of the partners, number of romantic relationships, number of broken hearts, average duration of relationships, duration of a recent, more significant relationship, time spent each week outside of school in this relationship, current romantic status, sexually active or not) and four indices of psychosocial adjustment (performance at school, body image, self-esteem, behavioural problems). The results suggest that it is possible to accurately predict poorer performance at school based on stronger romantic involvement, more significantly so for younger youths (ages 12 to 14) than older youths (ages 15 to 17). Body image and self-esteem are positively and significantly related to greater involvement in romantic relationships, and boys differ from girls in terms of parameters predicting self-esteem. Finally, behavioural problems are significantly associated with greater romantic involvement at all ages. The strength of association between variables ranges from weak to moderate, depending on age and gender (r ranging between 0,13 and 0,40) and the regression equations account for a generally modest portion of the total variance (6,3% to 11,7%). Differences attributable to age and gender refer to interaction effects concerning few parameters only. The results obtained are discussed in the context of psychosocial development in adolescence.
