<title>A note on the correlation of gain scores and achievement level</title>
<link>https://repozytorium.ukw.edu.pl///handle/item/1085</link>
<description>A note on the correlation of gain scores and achievement level
Rost, Jürgen
The negative correlation between gain score and initial status is one of the classical dilemmas in the measurement of change. A simple but efficient method is proposed to get valid information about the relationship between change and the level of achievement. After finishing and submitting this paper, the author became aware of the fact that the proposed rotation of the 2-dimensional space defined by pre- and post-test has already been presented and discussed by P.D. Oltham 50 years ago. However, there is no reason to withdraw the paper, since the majority of empirical researchers still try to derive correct results on the relationship of level and growth without the simple but efficient method of rotating the data space by 45 degrees. Addressed to these researchers, I would say “it’s time to make a change”.

<description>Jürgen Rost: statystyka w służbie metodologii?
Zeidler, Włodzisław
This article presents a profile of Jurgen Rost against a background of German psychology’s development. ]urgen Rost graduated from Christian-Albrechts University in 1976 and in 1980, after additional studies in mathematics he received PhD diploma. His scientific achievements include over 120 titles on very diverse subjects addressed to specialists, students, teachers and policy-makers. Some part of his works concerns methodology and efficiency of teaching in natural sciences and another part refers to statistics and methodology, e.g. to latent variables. Rost is also one of the scientists who tried to find a way to invalidate surface contradiction of quantitative and qualitative.

<title>Czynniki środowiska rodzinnego w warunkowaniu agresywnej strategii radzenia sobie młodzieży gimnazjalnej w sytuacjach konfliktu społecznego</title>

<description>Czynniki środowiska rodzinnego w warunkowaniu agresywnej strategii radzenia sobie młodzieży gimnazjalnej w sytuacjach konfliktu społecznego
Borecka-Biernat, Danuta
The objective of the study was to identify family determinants of aggression strategy used by adolescents in social conflict situations from among educational attitudes and the pattern of coping with difficult situations used by parents. The study employed SPR M. Plopa's questionnaire to test the perception of parental attitudes, a proprietary questionnaire to test the parents coping strategies in social conflict situations (SRWSK) and a proprietary questionnaire to test the coping strategies of youth in social conflict situations (KSRK). Empirical research involved 892 adolescents (467 girls and 425 boys) aged 13-15. In light of the performed tests it has been found that adolescents’ aggressive response to emotional&#13;
tension, arising in a social conflict situation, is shaped by inappropriate educational attitudes characterised by lack of stability in behaviour of the mother and the father towards an adolescent. Moreover, an important factor of a family system, contributing to the development of aggression strategies of young people coping in social conflict situations, is to pass onto adolescent children the patterns of aggression strategies by the parents.

<title>Płeć psychologiczna a  gotowość do agresji interpersonalnej u kobiet i  mężczyzn</title>

<description>Płeć psychologiczna a gotowość do agresji interpersonalnej u kobiet i mężczyzn
Konopka, Karolina; Frączek, Adam
The study was projected in order to identify to what extend sex and sex-role orientation are connected with the readiness for aggression. Three different mechanisms of aggression were considered: emotional-impulsive (E-IR), habitual-cognitive (H-CR) and personality-immanent (P-IR). According to gender schema theory people can internalize various gender depending on the extent to which they perceive themselves as possessing stereotypically underline masculine and feminine traits. The data from 464 respondents were collected. Patterns of readiness for aggression were measured by the Readiness for Interpersonal Aggression Inventory whereas the Psychological Gender Inventory was applied to asses gender identity. The results show that the masculine compared with the feminine individuals manifested higher level of H-CR and I-IR while the reversed pattern was observed in case of E-IR. These results reflect sex differences: E-IR higher among females and H-CR and P-IR higher in males.
