The problem at work that is being focused eh the adolescent’s developmental tasks in families with alcohol problems, especially in families with treated alcoholics. 1n present work was hypothesized that treatment of alcoholic fathers would be the one of the important protective factors in families with alcoholism. The first question addressed was whether children of treated alcoholics have been differed from children of drinking alcoholics according to the developmental tasks. The next question addressed was whether the specific family context was associated with the adolescent’s development. Participants included 91 children age 17-18. The research sample comprised three groups: 31 children of drinking alcoholics, 30 children of treated alcoholics, and 30 children of non-alcoholic parents. In general, the results of the present study suggest that the process treatment of the alcoholic parents was found to be a significant protective factor in alcoholic families.

The article describes the relational-interdependent self-construal scale, as well as its psychometric characteristics and psychological correlates. It is the measure, which has been adapted to Polish conditions. The relational-interdependent self-construal scale measures individual differences in the tendency to include close others in the self. The measure was first introduced by Cross, Bacon & Morris (2000). The items were created on the basis of the definition of relational-interdependent self-construal and earlier studies. 1579 people participated in the studies aimed at conducting exploratory factor analysis and reliability analysis. Results indicate that the relational-interdependent self-construal scale consists of 9 items that form one factor. The measure is reliable and valid. There are gender differences in relational self-construal - women obtain higher scores. The relational-interdependent self-construal scale is positively associated with empathy (especially empathic concern and perspective taking), agreeableness (and to some extent with extraversion), communal values (those important for interpersonal relations, mostly with security, universalism, conformity and benevolence), and with satisfaction with romantic relationship. Relational-interdependent self-construal is not significantly associated with global self-esteem.

The aim of the study was to identify the predictors of satisfaction with present life and prospects for the future among people with disabilities in their adolescence (I6-I7 years of age), emerging adulthood (18-25 years) and early adulthood (26-30 years). The results indicate that satisfaction with present as well as future life is linked to various predictors. In the case of the first variable, the general assessment of one’s health is of major significance whereas in the case of the two subsequent age groups continuation of education is also important. Satisfaction with future prospects is determined, above all, by satisfactory financial situation of one’s family and relations with people other than family members.

Nowadays, we observe an increase in divorce rates in all Western countries, including Poland. Research shows significant gender differences in reactions towards divorce. Therefore, the main aim of the presented study was to compare the psychological situation of wives and husbands being in the process of divorce. One hundred and twenty couples were examined in the Family Diagnostic Centre. Women more often than men filed for divorce. Women, younger spouses and those in shorter relationships declared lower satisfaction with marriage. Both spouses blamed the other partner for the breakup (with men more frequently blamed
by both parties). The results indicate significant gender differences in emotional and cognitive functioning with certain psychological problems displayed by both spouses.
