Związek autorytaryzmu z zaangażowaniem religijnym i religijnymi stylami poznawczymi
Krok, Dariusz
Authoritarianism has played an important role in research on social behaviour being also related to religiosity which is a quite astonishing outcome if we take into account fundamental teachings of major world religions. Recent research shows that authoritarianism is moderately connected with religious behaviour i.e. the more people are religious the more they are authoritarian. The aim of the present article was to analyze relations between right-wing authoritarianism and religious involvement and religious cognitive styles. The findings revealed that the relationship between authoritarianism and religiosity is more complex than previous research and depends on the character of religious involvement and preferences in religious cognitive styles. High authoritarians tended to show higher levels of religious involvement in such areas as religious convictions, prayer, religious experience, and worship than low authoritarians. The first group was also inclined to process religious information in two styles: Orthodoxy and Second Naivete which demonstrates positive relations between authoritarianism and inclusion of transcendence and both literal and symbolical interpretation of religious contents.

The aim of presented studies (N = 495) was to detect temperamental and personal predictors of entitlement attitudes: active, passive and revengefulness among adult persons. Authors assumed that only in the case of revengefulness the significant and important temperamental and personal predictors exist. There were used EAS and NEO-FFl methods. Entitlement (active attitude) was related to higher Activity and lower Agreeableness, demandingness (passive attitude) was related to higher Neuroticism, revengefulness was related to higher Anger, lower Agreeableness and lower Openness to Experience.

Children’s understanding of emotion is an important issue in the area of the development of social cognition. The presented research was aimed at investigating when children start to understand emotion as a mental state. The role of the perspective from which children assess the emotion (self perspective and third person perspective) was also investigated. Valence of emotion and sex of the child were also controlled. 79 4-year old and 80 6-year old children participated in the study. The participants listened to the stories depicting situations which were expected to provoke positive or negative emotion in the stories' protagonists. However the protagonists were showing reaction which suggested an opposite emotional state. Then, children were asked about the stories protagonists' real emotions and how they would felt in the similar situations themselves. The order in the sequence of questions about emotions of the story's protagonist and children’s emotions was controlled. The results show that 4-year old children yet represent emotions rather as an internal mental states than characteristic of behavior (attributions of real emotion were more frequently based on the situations than on the behavioral clues), although this ability undergoes some developmental change during next two years of child's development. However, a very strong effect of emotion’s valence makes some conclusions not fully warranted. The results are discussed in the contexts of children’s theory of mind, ability to control emotion, and also in the context of socialization processes - patterns of attachment.
