Organizacja i funkcjonowanie Bydgoskiego Kombinatu Budowlanego ,,Wschód’’ w Bydgoszczy w latach 1969-1980

Abstract

The paper is aimed at presententing the organisational structure and the basic range of functions performed by Bydgoski Kombinat Budowlany ,,Wschód’’. In the conclusion the evaluation of the consequences of the company’s works has been attempted. The period analysed in the article stretches from 1969 to 1980, the former being the date of the forming of the company by the superior authority and the latter being the period when Edward Gierek lost the position of the First Secretary in the government of the country and the fifth economic plan (1976-1980) was completed. Archival materials, created by Bydgoski Kombinat Budowlany and stored in the State Archive in Bydgoszcz, were used when writing this article. However, the literature on the subject, which deals quite extensively with the economic issues in the period of the People’s Republic of Poland, including house-building, does not give enough information to analyse the company’s activities in a more comprehensive way. The author hopes that the presented facts, concerning the first decade of the company’s operations, will provide new information and explain some of the issues concerning house-building in Bydgoszcz in the 1970 s.
