The aim of the article is to present the negative consequences of victimization, particularly a sense of damage. People who lost their eyesight took part in the first study. The study was aimed at examining the impact of “forgiveness” on the subject’s quality of life. “Forgiveness” was understood as freeing oneself from the syndrome of victimization and minimising of one’s concentration on the experienced loss. It was expected and confirmed that the strategy of mood regulation could be a mediator in this relationship. It turned out that blind people used the strategy of improving their mood more often than healthy people. Women who have had mastectomy participated in the second study. The variables taken into consideration were subjects’ emotionality and their present mood. The women who belong to support groups differ from the women who do not belong to such organizations. The women belonging to support groups experience more positive mood than negative mood as well attribute the causes of the experienced emotions to various factors. Finally, the article presents the positive consequences that follow the experienced trauma.

Suitably to introduce three ways conceptualization of health, it is 1) concentrate on risk factors, 2) the holistic-functional approach, as well as 3) in perspective of life span several different ways of improving own health across enriching own resources were presented. First approach focuses on prophylaxis mainly, and different psychological programmes of modification of risky behaviors complete various form of medical treatment in adults. The remaining two approaches are oriented to health. The increasing the resources of health concerns improvement of the life skills enabling effective coping with tasks and challenges of everyday life. Undertaken activity relating to enhancing life skills, are mainly steered on children and youth.

The article, which refers to positive psychology approach, attempts to answer the question whether experiencing stress may promote individual’s health. The definitions of eustress, including its temporary understanding, indicators of eustress and studies indicating for positive impact of experienced stress on health are presented. The role of positive emotions was taken into account. Moreover posttraumatic growth phenomenon and coping strategies promote health were regarded.

Taking the salutogenetic orientation as a way of research, which is typical of the positive health psychology, researchers were seeking personality conditions of sober life. Resource of the effective coping, health and satisfaction with your own life is the proactive coping ability. Possessing this ability should protect one from risky engagement on alcohol use. Series of studies were effectuated and they proved that proactive coping is a resource of sober life. The preventive coping especially protects one from risky drinking behavior. As the problematical engagement on alcohol use deepens, the proactive coping ability deteriorates. An important mediation function in the protective mechanism of the preventive coping on the risky engagement on alcohol use has a satisfaction with own life and motivation on drinking. Proactivity helps in satisfaction with own life, which does not encourage risky alcohol drinking and what follows, prevents addiction.
