Strategie radzenia sobie a osobowy wzrost a u nastolatków, którzy doświadczyli negatywnych wydarzeń życiowych
Ogińska-Bulik, Nina
The study was undertaken to determine the extent of positive changes in adolescents who have experienced negative life events and establish the role of coping strategies in this process. The research group consists of 130 adolescents, of
which 54% said that had experienced negative life event. 60 persons were included in the examined group, of which 56.7% were boys. The age of teenagers ranged 16-17 years (M = 16.53; SD = 0.50). Personality Growth Questionnaire for the assessment of positive changes and Coping Responses Inventory – youth (CRI-48) to measure coping strategies with stress (both dispositional and situational version) were used in the study. The results indicated that slightly more than 28% of respondents reveal high level of personal growth. Significantly larger are the changes related to appreciation of life than self-perception and relations with others. Situational strategies appeared to significantly relate with personal growth. Taking actions aimed at solving the problem appeared to be the predictor of positive changes in self-perception. Seeking social support and alternative reinforcements are predictors of changes in relations with others.

Pathways to Active Citizenship in Adolescence and Young Adulthood
Eckstein, Katharina; Noack, Peter; Jugert, Philipp
Considering the importance of active citizenship, the goal of the present research was to identify meaningful predictors of intentions to participate in
politics in adolescence (Study 1) and young adulthood (Study 2). Based on the
assumptions of the civic voluntarism model, three main predictors were examined:
Resources (educational level), experiences in social networks (club membership,
important others’ attitudes toward political behaviors, political discussions), and
individual characteristics (attitudes toward political behaviors, internal political
efficacy). Despite the differences in age, both studies identified a strikingly similar
pattern of results: Especially experiences in social networks predicted changes in
young people’s intentions to participate in politics. These effects, however, were
mediated by the examined individual characteristics. While the effect of political
discussions was largely mediated by the young people’s sense of internal political
efficacy, the effect of important others’ attitudes was mediated by their own attitudes
toward political behaviors

Syndrom gotowości anorektycznej a struktura motywacji osiągnięć u młodych kobiet
Połom, Magdalena
People with anorexic tendencies exercise ceaseless control over their body and treat it as an object. So enslaved organisms become means that fulfill certain functions. That may lead to extreme strive for successes. In view of these information, it was attempted (1) to recover source of achievement motivation among anorexia readiness syndrome components and (2) to circumscribe a structure of achievement motivation in young women with the anorexia readiness syndrome. The study was carried out on 203 girls (16 to 20 years of age). Among them 31 girls
were defined as having anorexia readiness syndrome. It turned out that (1) are numerous associations between achievement motivation components and anorexia readiness syndrome components and that (2) girls with anorexia tendencies are a far cry from their peers in domination, status orientation, competitiveness, braveness,
engagement and ambition.

Emocjonalność rodziców a natężenie zachowań agresywnych u dzieci
Sołtys, Michalina; Grzankowska, Izabela
The presented study is a part of project aimed at finding the sources of aggression among children in early school age. Exploratory research included 48 children, their parents (41 mothers, 19 fathers) and 2 teachers. To examine the relationship between the intensity of aggressive behaviour among pupils and emotionality of their parents, the following methods have been applied: Emotional Control Questionnaire by J. Brzeziński, Type D Scale by N. Ogińska-Bulik, Z. Juczyński and J. Denollet and the Student Behaviour Rating Scale by I. Grzankowska. The analyses have shown that mothers’ motivation to behave rationally is positively correlated with indirect aggression among children whereas fathers’ cognitive control of emotogeneous situations correlates negatively with the number of acts of physical aggression acts taken by children at school. The results indicate that parents emotional control could predict children aggressive behaviour. Due to a limited sample size, replication of the research is recommended
